Every farmers love story with coffee begins in a unique way. For Gildardo Contreras, it started as a young boy where in his back garden his parents had 50 bourbon coffee trees, that they would pick and process together. In 2012, Gildardo made his dream into a reality when he purchased a farm from a relative who grew both avocado and coffee. He slowly started buying up the neighbouring lots until reaching the current farm size of 54 acres.
Felipe Contreras, Gildardo’s son, has taken the reins over the past two years within the farm focusing on quality, and works with the neighbours to improve both quality and processing techniques. This newly purchased farm is located a steep 15min drive from Antigua, from where they built a wet mill & drying beds. We are incredibly excited by Felipe's approach and energy about specialty coffee especially as this is only his second year!
The aromatics with this coffee hit you before taking your first sip. The Geisha varietal is highlighted through it’s florality and sweetness making it one to definitely take your time to enjoy it as it transforms from hot to cold. Bergamot, honey, jasmine and fresh mandarin are layered in this complex cup with a finish of peach nectar. We can’t wait for you enjoy this one!
