Jean Vilhena Faleiros' family has been in coffee for over 100 years, making him the third generation coffee producer. He was born with a passion for coffee growing, has a modern vision, and always seeks to plant the best varieties, investing what is within his reach in post-harvesting.
Located in a privileged zone of Brazil, Finca Santa Monica has the perfect microclimate and altitude of location for the production of specialty coffees. In 2010 he shifted his vision from large scale efficiency to a focus on producing specialty coffee. The move was highly successful and rewarding, placing them as winners of several competitions and achieving high rankings in the Cup of Excellence.
Jean focuses strongly on Catucai, a cross variety of Catuai and Icatu. Catucai can be both yellow and red and is well-known for its high productivity and yield. For lot 56, Jean kept the coffee fermenting in steel barrels with specific strain of yeast. Under this controlled environment, the yeast fermentation aided in producing a fruit forward cup resulting in flavours of mango, dried apricots and raw honey.
