In 2014, José Renato and his wife, Tainã took over the family business and responsibility of caring for their 2.5 hectare farm. Unlike his father, José focused on quality and has achieved fifth place in last year's Cup of Excellence Brazil Competition.
With their three year old son Benjamin and his little sister on the way, José hopes they will follow in their footsteps, making up the family's third generation of coffee producers.
This coffee was hand picked and poured into a box for 24-36 hours in a temperature stable environment. The fully ripe cherries were separated and spread on the concrete patio until ideal humidity was reached between 13-14%. The harvest is 100% selective and manual and is done by women to achieve better selection of ripe cherries.
All this care has resulted in a beautiful cup with notes of toffee apple, tangerine and walnuts. Enjoy!
