This coffee was sourced in a collaboration with our good friends Offshoot Coffee (Perth, Australia), and Kurir Kopi (Indonesia). Driven by the passion of sharing spectacular coffee produced by Finca Auromar within the highland tropical forest of Candela, Chiriqui all the way into your cup!
Auromar was founded by Roberto Brenes, a family project devoted to the production of superior arabica coffees, in a sustainable and eco friendly environment.
Roberto's farm 'Finca La Aurora' named after his daughter comprises of 30 hectares, 17 of that remains untouched pristine tropical forest. Roberto strongly values a balance between the coffee and the natural Chiriqui environment in which he was born and raised.Apart from growing arabica, there are also trees such as Hass avocado trees, which provide shade and create a stable microclimate on the farm. All this combined amazing terroir and a late harvest, means that a limited supply of highly complex beans are produced each year.
We are very excited to share with you Roberto's Geisha varietal, known for being the champagne in the coffee world, Panamanian Geisha consistently ranks as some of the most expensive coffee in global auctions.
All of Auromar production is manually picked when the cherries are at the peak of ripeness. Harvesters are paid a premium above the prevailing wages to encourage careful handling of these rare coffees. This special lot was processed with ripe, middle or late harvest cherries in the open, then moved to the mill to remove the dried peel and pulp. All of this is done on premises, then the ripe cherries are hand-carried to the processing area on the farm (no more than 800m from the farthest tree).
This Geisha lot is like a party in your mouth. We tasted ripe pineapple, sweet lime cordial and super floral jasmine. Enjoy!
