2022 is the year of the Tiger! We have collaborated with Melbourne-based artist Joanna Du on this delicious lot from Abraham, bringing you some fun and familiar Lunar New Year flavours.

About the Coffee and Producer - Abraham Mengistie

Located near the Mele Village in the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia, you can find the Koke 'Abraham' Washing Station named after manager Abraham Mengistie. Last year we were blown away by their coffees and this time we have secured lot 2721, a Carbonic Maceration Washed Mixed Heirloom. The Carbonic Maceration technique combined with warm temperatures and a slow drying process have enhanced yellow fruit qualities and a thicker texture to this washed Ethiopian.

About the Artist - Joanna Du

Fran first met Joanna at her local climbing gym, where she featured an exhibit featuring her fun and flirty portraits.

Joanna has always made art, throughout her childhood through to her young adult years, but only recently has she been selling her artwork online and at zine festivals. Over the years she has specialised in different mediums from ink to digital art and is looking to explore epoxy next.

What is your relationship with coffee?
"I have a very intimate relationship with coffee I’ll always be grateful for. Having worked in specialty coffee in Melbourne, I was able to learn so much and meet so many wonderful and passionate people in the industry. It’s an appreciation I’ll always have with me."
Do you celebrate the Lunar New Year?
"I’ll be celebrating Lunar New Year with my family. One of my favourite newer memories of Lunar New Year is having my partner experience it with me for the first time - and their amazement when receiving li xi (red packets) from my family."
