Arjen's Maracaturra has excelled consistently in the Nicaraguan Cup of Excellence and so we thought let's kick it up a notch with a dry natural process, letting the beans dance to their own fruity rhythm. The result? A symphony of flavors from Sweet spiced Pecan Pie, to blackcurrant juice and fresh grapefruit. This coffee was the result of a collaboration between our friends the Mierisch Family and La Orquidea.
Arjen's consistent commitment to excellence in coffee cultivation is showcased in the cup. Arjen, a dutch coffee farmer and travel travel entrepreneur has dedicated two decades to cultivating exceptional coffee at La Orquídea farm. Together with his wife, Noelia, Arjen oversees a 20-hectare haven, with 5 hectares meticulously devoted to the cultivation of Maracaturra, Catuai, Java, and Geisha coffee varieties. What sets Arjen's farm apart is not just its exquisite flavor but also his commitment to environmental conservation.
At 1400masl, the Maracaturra is carefully harvested when fully ripe, before undergoing an aerobically fermented process for 36 hours, followed by a meticulous full wash and shade drying at a state-of-the-art dry mill facility.
After first roasting this exceptional coffee, it unveiled enchanting flavours of dried citrus, tangerine, and delicate white florals, complemented by the intense sweetness of panela sugar.
